Expecting gym-quality gear under 500 bucks in our minds is silly, just keep in mind that your expectations should reflect the amount of money you spend.

Part II: Best Home Gyms From $500 – $1000

Alright, so we’ll be discussing Part II with you which are the best options between $500 and $1000.

We really believe this is where the sweet-spot lies for your average weightlifter because anything more than that will be somewhat unnecessary.

Finally you also can enjoy a machine that can offer you the ability to perform the leg press with an optional attachment and the maximum weight for that and the bench press is 400lbs.

Although the weight stack maxes out at 200lbs, the 2:1 pulley ratio can double the weight to 400lbs on your bench press and leg press to keep you progressing for longer.

As you can see there are tons of different options for home gyms and you kind of just have to decide for yourself what you need and what you’re planning to do.

Although we’ve mixed in a fair amount of Bowflex products we understand that these can be considered somewhat “gimmicky” and not “true to life” so for that reason we generally advise to steer clear from these units if you’re looking for the most authentic experience.

If you want to just work out at home and get jacked, Bowflex does the job very well so don’t get us wrong – they are by no means bad machines.

Bowflex has become famous for a reason and if they were lying about any aspect of their marketing material, somebody would have found out by now and they wouldn’t enjoy such high reviews.

  2. This is a great list, you have so many great gyms to choose from. My favorite is #2, the body-solid G15. It seems like it would provide enough exercises for me and not take up too much space as long as my ceiling is tall enough hehe, plus I love that brand. I love that you get a workout DVD too, that is really neat and probably motivating. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I love how you only need the most minimal amount of equipment to set up a home gym.

    All I have is a bench press but the weights and knowledge that I have at my disposal allow me to create some really hardworking workouts from the comfort of my property. Helping me to save money in the long run and spend on other things worthwhile.
