Well ladies, we’re now in March, and here (at least in southwestern Ontario), summer is just around the corner.
Now is a great time to be asking “how to get a bikini body for summer” because if you wait too long, your body may not be ready to show off this summer!

What is Your Body’s Current Condition?
Are you lean and slim or are you holding onto excess body fat right now?
Are you pretty muscular but just need to get lean?
Do you have any workout or dieting experience so far?
These are some of the questions you have to ask yourself first. Where your physique is at will determine the steps you will have to take to change it.
Of course if you’re holding onto too much fat and have little to no muscle development the right course of action will be to lose fat and build muscle, but there are those who already have a good foundation to start from.
Everyone is different and you must take stock of where you are currently at first.
There are TWO Critical Things that NEED to Happen for You to Get a Bikini Body.
You can’t just wake up one day and have that perfect bikini look and off you go. That’s not how it works.
Any girl or woman you see out there with a rock-hard and stunning body has done two very specific things and she knows exactly what those things were.
There are two incredibly critical components that must be accomplished before you have the look you’re after.
These two components are:
- If you have a lot of extra fat on your body, you must lose it first.
- If you haven’t worked out in a while (and I don’t mean spin classes, I mean with weight lifting) then you must begin doing that at the same time that you are losing weight.
Let’s go over each of these in more detail below!
1. You Need to First Lose Extra Body Fat
Although in this section I won’t really be going over how to lose body fat (you can learn about that here), I definitely will be going over why you want to focus on that as your primary goal.
When it comes to having the shape of body that you ideally want, it probably boils down to hiding it with too much excess fat.
Covering up the muscles that ultimately provide your body with its shape is the number one reason you don’t see yourself being “toned” and “slim” like many women I have spoken to want to look.

However, for the most part as long as you can see muscle definition in your abs you’re definitely on the right track.
Top areas women store most of their body fat:
- glutes/butt cheeks
- lower back
- upper arms
Therefore, as you follow our above guide on how to lose weight, you will begin seeing small changes in your body fat levels each week in these areas.
Pay attention to these changes because as you get leaner and leaner you will eventually reach a point that you personally are happy with.
No one can tell you how you should look, but you should definitely look the way YOU WANT to look!
2. If You Are Not Following a Weight Lifting Program, Start NOW!
Aside from many “vanity” reasons why a woman wishes to be more toned, slim and sexy, many more important reasons exist why you may consider starting an exercise program.
Some of these reasons include:
- having more energy
- being more alert
- enjoying life more
- living a healthy lifestyle
- preventing terrible diseases (especially as we age, and especially osteoporosis for women)
- and overall just feeling better about yourself while you also look fantastic
With all of that out of the way, vanity reasons to get in shape also exist, and they are also very real.
One of the most important aspects of having a body you can feel proud of showing off in a bikini is having adequate (not overdone) muscllar development in the regions that most women find desirable.
Most women I have personally spoken to want (but are lacking) the correct shape they want in the following regions:

- Upper back
Now, of course everyone will be different in terms of what they personally want their body to look like but it does take effort and knowledge to get your body there.
Let’s Bring it All Together in One Package
Ideally speaking, you would want to commence your fat loss efforts and your weight lifting efforts at the same time.
Contrary to popular belief, you are fully capable of building muscle while losing fat, and it’s actually imperative to do so if you don’t want to end up skinny and flabby looking at the same time.
Tons of women look incredible while being very skinny and lean, but they have some seriously solid levels of muscle development that make up the shapes of their body.
One thing we never recommend is to attempt to do these things on your own.
